Our hormones can be likened to an orchestra.
When working together in symphony, they are responsible for giving us the pep we need, helping with our sleep and overall mood.
An imbalance in our hormones, particularly our adrenals, thyroid and sex hormones can result in fatigue.
Fortunately there are steps we can take to reduce the prospect of hormone imbalance and/or restore equilibrium.
1. Eat organic
Whenever possible, strive to consumer organic foods. Stay away from the dirty dozen and focus on pasture raised animal products if you consume them.
2. Filter your water
Tap water has been proven to contain microplastics, heavy metals, drug and chemical residues among other nasties. Keep these out of your body.
3. Avoid phthalates
Opt for ‘clean’ personal care products which do not contain these hormone disruptors. Check out the ‘Think Dirty’ app to see how your personal care products match up.
4. Detoxify
Supporting one’s detoxification pathways is a sure fire way to reduce the body’s load of hormone disruptors or hormones such as estrogen which can occasionally build up in excess.
5. Avoid BPA
BPA mimics estrogen in the body, creating imbalances in women and men. Avoid plastic bottles and containers and opt for glass or stainless steel varieties.
6. Test
Consider functional testing to understand the status of your hormones and ensure they are functioning optimally.
Optimising hormone levels can be a powerful and often overlooked solution to chronic fatigue. By addressing imbalances in key hormones like cortisol, thyroid hormones, insulin, and sex hormones, the body can regain its natural rhythm, energy, and resilience.
With the right support and guidance, restoring hormonal balance not only combats fatigue but also enhances overall well-being and vitality.
Consider working with a practitioner or coach well versed in assessing and resolving any hormonal imbalances you may have to help resolve your fatigue.
