Could Bartonella be causing your fatigue?

Languishing through the world of chronic illness, while attempting to latch onto the next thing, is a common experience for most spoonies.

When you’re living with unpredictable symptoms and crushing fatigue, it’s only natural to reach for whatever supplement, protocol, or practitioner promises hope.

But what if the real reason for the lack of progress isn’t a lack of effort but a missing piece in the puzzle?

This is a question I often ask clients who feel like they’ve tried everything, but still feel stuck in a cycle of exhaustion, neurological symptoms, pain, or emotional instability.

If this resonates with you, know that you’re not alone, and that sometimes the key to healing is uncovering the unseen layers of illness.

Why root causes matter more than quick fixes

Over the years, working with people navigating ME/CFS, post-viral syndromes, and complex chronic conditions, I’ve noticed a crucial turning point in those who make lasting progress: they step back from the chaos and start identifying root causes — not just chasing symptoms.

Jumping from protocol to protocol can create overwhelm and confusion, especially when the nervous system is already on edge.

A clear, calm, and root-focused strategy is often what makes the difference between temporary improvement and long-term recovery.

That’s why I’m launching a blog series focused on commonly overlooked root causes in chronic fatigue.

How Bartonella could be causing your fatigue

First up is Bartonella, a stealth infection that’s finally starting to get the attention it deserves.

Commonly found alongside Lyme disease, Bartonella is typically spread through insect bites or animal scratches (especially from cats). While it can lie dormant for years, once activated it may lead to a wide range of symptoms including nerve pain, foot pain, cognitive issues, irritability, and profound fatigue.

Because Bartonella doesn’t always show up on standard blood tests, many people go years without knowing it’s a factor.

Meanwhile, they’re trying everything from adrenal tonics to antiviral protocols, often with limited results.

There is hope

The good news is that Bartonella can be treated. When approached properly with the right testing, pacing, and support for detox and nervous system regulation, outcomes can be remarkably positive.

Herbal protocols, targeted antimicrobials, and mitochondrial support all play a role in restoring energy and function.

This blog series will explore those tools and approaches in more depth — starting with Bartonella, but continuing through other hidden infections, toxins, and biological stressors that deserve more attention.
