Is your gut causing your fatigue?

Our gastrointestinal health is fundamental when it comes to minimising the prospect of developing a chronic disease.

Conditions known as intestinal permeability (also known as leaky gut syndrome), dysbiosis, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth and various fungal and parasitic infections can in their own way contribute to chronic fatigue.

 

These issues are common drivers of chronic inflammation, thereby adding fuel to the fire and dampening energy levels.

 

In addition, an inability to absorb key nutrients over time due to a disturbed gastrointestinal environment can pave the way to key nutrient deficiencies which can translate to diminished energy production.

 

Microbial imbalances can also adversely impact the gut-brain axis and lead to a reduction in the production of key neurotransmitters such as serotonin, making concentration, sleep, mental stamina and focus difficult to attain.

 

Testing and treatment
